The PCD has the task, among other things, to distribute information about environmental issues in general and ambient air quality data in particular. Different means of distribution are used to suit different categories of users. In the future national and global data networks will be an important media for information dissemination.
The PCD is continuously developing a modern Environmental Information System for the Internet. Information from different parts of the PCD Air Quality Management System is used. Dedicated information, such as graphs and pictures, can be distributed to specific customers such as newspapers and TV for direct use. The basic version of the PCD Environmental Information System (An Internet Based Air Quality and Noise Information System (AQNIS)) was installed in connection with the Pollution Control '97 Exhibition. The system now forms an integrated part of the PCD General Information System. The Project is totally financed by the PCD. |
